Project Background…

BCFE, City of Dublin FET College, Ballyfermot Campus in Dublin and Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka established a partnership through WorldWise in 2008.

BCFE applied to the Programme of Strategic Cooperation and was awarded a grant to support the development of the first Diploma in Creative Digital Media in Zambia.  A three-year diploma was developed by BCFE and validated by TEVETA (Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority) and introduced in Evelyn Hone College in 2013.

The Irish Embassy in Zambia supported a further programme to develop a Diploma in Audio and Music Technology and funded equipment for a new studio in Evelyn Hone College (2019-2022).

Currently there is a multi-faceted three-year project underway which started in 2022 - ‘Establishing a Centre for the Creative Arts at Evelyn Hone College, Lusaka, Zambia’. This includes the development of three further Diploma programmes -  Animation, Creative Music Performance and Graphic Design. Evelyn Hone College will also be designated as the national Centre of Excellence for the Creative Arts as part of this new project. The project includes generating deeper links between Zambia and Ireland through their creative communities.

Recognition of the powerful potential of the creative industries to contribute to all areas of development, economic, social and cultural, has been at the heart of the project since the beginning.
